Dr. Madhav R. Seshadri is a hematologist-oncologist who specializes in caring for patients with blood cancers, with a particular focus on Hodgkin's lymphoma, non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and chronic lymphocytic leukemia. He has expertise in advanced cancer treatments, such as stem cell transplants, targeted therapies (using substances that can identify cancer cells and kill them or hinder their ability to spread) and immunotherapies, including CAR T-cell therapy (in which the patient's own T-cells are altered in a lab to make them destroy cancer cells, then returned to the patient by infusion).

In his research, Seshadri focuses on developing new combinations of immunotherapy and targeted therapies to improve outcomes for patients with lymphoma. He is a principal investigator of multiple ongoing clinical trials (studies that use human volunteers to evaluate promising treatments) and has received several awards for his work.

Seshadri earned his medical degree at Emory University. He completed a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in hematology and oncology at Weill Cornell Medicine.

In addition to his work at UCSF, Seshadri currently serves on the National Comprehensive Cancer Network's guidelines panel for chronic lymphocytic leukemia.

    Dr Seshadri is an excellent doctor. He's able to explain ccmplex medical information at a level that I can understand. Even though my college biology classes were way back in 1978, I read up on my medical condition and on trends in science. Though I understand what he & my other doctors are concerned about for me, all of this can be scary and overwhelming. Dr Seshadri manages to communicate what ai need to hear in a calm, supportive way.

    My internet stopped working almost the minute Dr. Seshadri got on and he called me instead which I appreciated. I don't think it's actually possible for me to recommend him, I might recommend UCSF blood & bone marrow transplant but it seems like you don't get to choose your providers anyway, at least I never have. But everyone I've gotten has been good

    Dr Seshardi is phenomenal. He is extremely knowledgeable, professional and compassionate. He listened intently and thoroughly addressed all of my questions. I was glad I waited to get an appointment with him and would certainly recommend him to anyone needing a hematologist.

    I am VERY IMPRESSED with Dr. Sheshadri. He was very professional and personable. I felt listened to, understood and cared about. He clearly is quite knowledgeable and I felt a high degree of confidence in his medical judgement. He was clear speaking and refrained from using medical jargon (which I appreciate).

    I felt so helped by Dr. Seshardi, he explained my condition patiently and with attuned relaying of information. There is a wonderful book, Anatomy of Hope, written by a previous Surgeon General I believe, and It's a dance providers need to do that I experienced Dr. Seshardi doing very well. I hope I don't get sicker and need to return but If I do I feel very appreciative to have someone with competence and kindness like him.
