About me

Dr. Max Blumberg is an occupational and environmental medicine specialist who cares for patients with work-related or environmentally induced injuries and illnesses. He diagnoses and treats patients who have had traumatic accidents and patients who have been exposed to toxic metals, chemicals, infectious agents and other hazards. He also has expertise in care for repetitive strain injuries. Blumberg earned his medical degree from the University at Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine and Biological Sciences, part of the State University of New York (SUNY) system. He completed a residency in occupational and environmental medicine at UCSF, where he served as chief resident during his final year. He has a master of public health degree from the University of California, Berkeley. In addition to caring for patients, Blumberg advocates for the well-being of health care workers. As associate medical director of UCSF Occupational Health Services, he strives to improve employee health and to prevent injuries and illnesses for everyone working in UCSF hospitals, schools and laboratories. Before joining UCSF, Blumberg worked as a staff physician for the Erie County Department of Health in Buffalo, New York.
