About me

Dr. Merve Postalcioglu is a nephrologist, a specialist who cares for patients with a wide range of kidney conditions, including chronic kidney disease, hypertension, electrolyte abnormalities and acid-base disorders. She also supports patients with polycystic kidney disease at every stage of the illness.

In her research, Postalcioglu is interested in improving prevention, early detection and treatment of kidney disease. She focuses on using new biomarkers (distinctive, measurable substances used to identify disease) to detect kidney disease before significant loss of function occurs. She is also interested in how aging affects kidney health and how kidney disease is linked with cardiovascular disease.

Postalcioglu earned her medical degree from Hacettepe University. She completed an internal medicine residency at Brown University and completed a fellowship in nephrology at UCSF, where she also completed a master's degree of advanced studies in clinical and epidemiological research.
