Myat Han Soe, MD

Dr. Myat Han Soe is an endocrinologist who cares for patients with endocrine dysfunction and endocrine gland tumors, such as thyroid cancers; parathyroid tumors; and adrenal tumors, including pheochromocytomas.

In his research, Soe investigates thyroid cancer that doesn't respond to radioactive iodine therapy. He also studies risk factors for metastasis (the spread of cancer from its original site) in pheochromocytoma (a rare adrenal gland tumor) and paraganglioma (a rare tumor that forms along nerve pathways, most often in the head or neck).

Soe earned his medical degree at the University of Medicine, Mandalay in Myanmar. He completed a residency in internal medicine at the University of Maryland Prince George's Hospital Center and a fellowship in endocrinology at UCSF. He also completed a fellowship in medical education at UMass Chan Medical School – Baystate and earned a master's degree in health sciences at Western Illinois University.

Soe was recognized as a Young Achiever by the American College of Physicians. He also received the Martin I. Broder Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award at UMass Chan Medical School – Baystate for two consecutive years.
