About me
Dr. Nghiem B. Ha is a gastroenterologist and transplant hepatologist who cares for patients with liver diseases, including those awaiting liver transplantation.
In his research, Ha focuses on finding ways to better manage chronic liver disease by studying body composition with an advanced technique called quantitative morphometrics. In particular, he is working to develop strategies for accurately assessing and addressing abnormalities involving muscle mass and abdominal fat to improve care and outcomes for patients with chronic liver disease.
Ha earned his medical degree and master of advanced studies degree in clinical research at the University of California, Davis School of Medicine and UC Davis Health Clinical and Translational Science Center. At UCSF, he completed a residency in internal medicine, followed by a fellowship in gastroenterology as part of a program with the American Board of Internal Medicine that integrates research training with training in patient care. He also completed a fellowship in advanced/transplant hepatology at UCSF.
Ha is a member of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, American Society of Transplantation, American Gastroenterological Association, American College of Gastroenterology and Northern California Society for Clinical Gastroenterology.
