About me

Dr. Nicole Schroeder is an orthopedic surgeon who cares for patients with a wide range of conditions, including traumatic injuries, affecting the forearm, wrist, hand and other parts of the arm. She has special interests in physical injuries of the hand and forearm, tendinosis (chronic degeneration of a tendon), Dupuytren's contracture (a hand condition in which connective tissue changes prevent fingers from straightening), arthritis, blood vessel and nerve problems, bone deformities and fractures, dislocations and other joint problems, tumors, and ligament and tendon injuries. She serves as chief of hand, elbow and upper extremity services for the orthopedic surgery department.

Schroeder earned her medical degree from the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. She completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at UCSF and a fellowship in hand and upper extremity surgery at Washington University in St. Louis.

UCSF has honored Schroeder, a faculty member since 2018, with several awards for excellence in teaching. A member of the UCSF Haile T. Outstanding interaction with both Dr Schroeder and her resident, Dr Kwong. They listened well to my concerns and provided easy to understand explanations of my condition and of options for treatment. I have complete confidence in the care I received
