About me
Pedro Fernandes is a genetic counselor who specializes in providing care to individuals and families with a personal or family history of cancer. He guides patients through conversations about inherited cancer risks and personal and family medical histories. He also discusses genetic testing options, interprets test results and provides individualized recommendations for cancer screening and risk management based on genetic testing results as well as national guidelines. He is passionate about providing empathetic care to all patients.
After earning his bachelor's degree in biological sciences with a minor in psychological science from UC Irvine, Fernandes earned his master's degree in genetic counseling from UCLA.
Before joining UCSF, Fernandes predominantly provided prenatal and cancer genetic counseling.
