About me

Patricia Liu is a speech-language pathologist who cares for patients with speech, language and cognitive- communication disorders, including aphasia, dysarthria and apraxia of speech. She works with people who have been affected by stroke, traumatic brain injury or neurological conditions, such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (also called ALS or Lou Gehrig's disease) and other movement disorders. She enjoys collaborating as part of a team of specialists to ensure patients receive comprehensive, coordinated care.

Liu's specialty is addressing communication challenges for people with severe speech and motor impairments through augmentative and alternative communication methods – techniques that can enhance speech and writing or be used as substitutes.

Liu earned her master's degree in communicative disorders and sciences at San José State University. She is certified by the Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America as an assistive technology professional.
