About me

Dr. P. Daniel Knott is director of facial cosmetic and reconstructive surgery within Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery at UCSF. He has training and experience in facial aesthetics and microvascular surgery. His expertise includes treatment of facial paralysis, facial reconstruction following skin cancer, facial rejuvenation, minimally invasive techniques for filling out facial defects, rhinoplasty and free tissue transfer (moving tissue such as skin from one part of the body to another).

In his research, Knott is working to develop new methods for reconstructing the palate (roof of the mouth) and the area of the eye orbit and upper jaw. He also studies microvascular treatment of osteonecrosis (when inadequate blood supply leads to death of bone tissue) and cartilage bioengineering (growing new cartilage tissue).

I think a handout with instructions as to dues and don'ts for follow up Care would've been helpful. Instruction was given verbally but I just think something written would have helped out.

Dr. Knott was professional, compassionate, and took the time to carefully review my complex medical history. For more than a year, I have been seeking answers and have undergone evaluations by multiple specialists without finding a clear path forward for my ongoing chewing, swallowing, and breathing difficulties. What I appreciated most was that Dr. Knott listened carefully, acknowledged the complexity of my situation, reviewed my prior testing, and helped direct me to the specialists best suited to further evaluate my condition. I never felt rushed or dismissed during the visit.Although my case remains unresolved, I left feeling heard, respected, and supported. I am grateful for Dr. Knott's thoughtful approach and for helping coordinate the next steps in my care.
