About me

Dr. Pierre Martin is a neurologist who provides care for a wide range of complex neurological conditions. He performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including botulinum toxin (Botox) injections for migraines, occipital nerve blocks (injections of pain medication and steroids for chronic headaches), electromyography (a technique for assessing the health of muscles and the nerves that control them), nerve conduction studies (which assess how electrical impulses move through nerves) and skin biopsies to detect small fiber neuropathy (a condition involving episodes of severe pain).

In research, Martin focuses on neurology education, particularly the development of educational technology. His goal is to create a suite of web and mobile applications grounded in the best educational practices and geared toward patients, families and providers.

Martin earned a master's degree in education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education before completing his medical degree at Yale School of Medicine. He completed a residency and a fellowship in neurology at UCSF.

Martin is studying 3D modeling and animation, and he hopes to start learning capoeira soon.

Twenty years after my accident, Dr. Martin was able to diagnose me accurately, provide me the correct avenues of treatment, and (though we're not done yet) given me my life back as far as pain and nerves becoming "normal" feeling, taking away my headaches, and restoring my happiness!
