Rajiv Sethi, MD

Dr. Rajiv Sethi is a spinal surgeon who cares for patients with complex spinal deformities, infections, cancer and conditions requiring revision surgery. He is Co-Director of the UCSF Spine Center and UCSF System Medical Director of Value-Based Musculoskeletal Initiatives.

 In his research, Sethi focuses on system approaches that make spine surgery safer and more predictable for patients, delivering quality care in a reproducible fashion. His goal is to develop the metrics for successful care and make treatment more accessible to patients near and far. 

Sethi earned his medical degree from Harvard Medical School, where he also completed a residency in orthopedic surgery. He completed a fellowship in spine and scoliosis surgery at UCSF.

Sethi has been invited to speak about spine safety and advanced protocols for complex care in dozens of countries, where he has been privileged to meet and learn from leaders in spinal safety from many backgrounds and cultures.    

As a student at Brown University, Sethi was a world music radio DJ. He now enjoys traveling with his wife and four children, experiencing music and culture from all over the globe.
