About me

Dr. Ronald M. Krauss is an endocrinologist who cares for patients with lipid disorders (abnormal bloodstream levels of fats, such as cholesterol and triglycerides) and a high risk of cardiovascular disease.

Krauss' research focuses on identifying specific features of a patient's lipid profile that increase the risk of developing heart disease, as well as studying the mechanisms behind the benefits and unwanted side effects of statin drugs. Krauss' research accomplishments include identifying three metabolic characteristics of atherogenic dyslipidemia (an abnormality strongly linked to both heart disease and type 2 diabetes) and developing methods that laboratories commonly use to assess this trait.

After earning a medical degree at Harvard Medical School, Krauss completed a residency in internal medicine at Boston Medical Center and a fellowship in pediatric endocrinology at the National Institutes of Health Clinical Center.
