About me
Dr. Ross Okimoto is a medical oncologist who specializes in caring for adult patients with soft tissue and bone sarcomas (a type of malignant tumor). He works with a team of surgeons, radiation oncologists and pathologists to provide the best possible outcomes for his patients.
A physician-scientist, Okimoto conducts research in addition to providing care. The overarching goal of his laboratory-based investigations is to improve outcomes for cancer patients. His current research focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms that promote tumor cell metastasis (the spread of cancer to other parts of the body).
Okimoto attended Creighton University School of Medicine. He completed a residency in internal medicine at Tufts Medical Center and a fellowship in medical oncology at UCSF.

This provider has arranged other appointments so I could get opinions on appropriate care for my issue within UCSF. He's also expedited testing to enable a clear understanding of my health issue. He has discussed options for care with me, always treating me as an equal partner in my care. He has gone above and beyond what an ordinary provider would do to help me and I'm very grateful for his care and concern for my well-being.

Dr. Okimoto includes me and treats me as a partner in decisions about my care. He has provided suggestions for additional opinions on care for my complex health condition. He's also advocated for me with his colleagues to help me get appointments with them sooner. He's a great listener and I am grateful to him for all he's doing for me.
