Dr. Russell Ching is a cardiologist who strives to advocate for his patients within the health care system. Endeavoring to bring compassion into a technology-oriented setting, he practices a style of care based on trust.

Ching earned his medical degree from Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. He completed a residency in internal medicine at the Los Angeles County + USC Medical Center and a cardiology fellowship at California Pacific Medical Center. He practiced cardiology in Southern California for 30 years before joining UCSF in 2013.

Ching has a strong interest in global health care and has participated in medical missions in developing countries. He is a member of the American College of Cardiology.

    I cannot speak highly enough of Dr. Ching. He was supremely knowledgeable without arrogance, asked all the questions to tease out issues (and ameliorative steps I might take), and explained everything thoroughly. Seriously, this guy is a star, telehealth or not - it was as if we were in his office. Quality all the way.

    If doctor Ching was also a primary care doctor, I'd switch to him instantly based on his clear expertise, caring and engagement. He's real-time, present and not just rushing along to get along. He doesn't show dismissiveness when you have concerns. And he also holds you responsible to do your part to help improve and sustain your health. Very refreshing.

    Overall I rate Dr Ching as an excellent cardiologiest. He listened carefully. He thoroughly answered my many questions. We discussed some very technical things and he responded clearly, and is obviously very up to date with his field.

    Dr Russ Ching makes you feel like you are the only person in the world when you meet with him, and he is curious, smart, kind, and funny all during the appointment. He is absolutely terrific as a Cardiologist, and he is at least as good as a caring, compassionate, interested and interesting person. Highly recommended!

He took the time to understand my health concern, outlined the potential causes for my Issue, and laid out options for us to further diagnose. He took the time for me to ask my follow-up questions and never made it feel like I was getting rushed out for the next patient. 10/10 experience.
