Ryan Laponis, MD

Dr. Ryan Laponis is an internal medicine specialist who provides primary care to adults and coordinates care for his patients with complex diseases. His goals are to develop treatment plans that meet his patients' needs and values and to help them navigate the health care system.

In his research, Laponis focuses on medical education. He particularly works on developing and evaluating curricula related to communication between doctors and patients, professionalism and the pursuit of careers in primary care.

Laponis earned his medical degree at the University of California, Davis School of Medicine and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, which recognizes excellence in scholarship and service. He completed a residency in internal medicine at UCSF, where he served as chief resident in ambulatory medicine.

Laponis is a member of the Society of General Internal Medicine and is assistant director of UCSF's residency program in primary care internal medicine.
