About me
Dr. Stephanie Cham is a gynecologic oncologist, a specialist in treating cancers of the female reproductive organs. She is passionate about providing patients with high-quality surgical care and about teaching medical students how to deliver this care.
Cham joined UCSF as a National Institutes of Health scholar focused on women's reproductive health and how to best provide cancer care, particularly for frail and elderly patients. Her research often focuses on improving care around the time of surgery for patients with gynecologic cancers, particularly in vulnerable populations. She specifically looks at how new technologies and other health care services influence patient outcomes. Her research has been presented at national conferences and published in major medical journals.
Cham earned her medical degree at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. She completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at New York – Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in gynecologic oncology at Dana-Farber Brigham Cancer Center.

Knowledgeable, easy to talk to, well informed about my particular condition, listened to my questions and concerns, great explanation of treatment recommendations and rationale. She was superb!

I would definitely recommend Dr. Cham. I just hope I don't have too.

I saw Dr. Cham as a second opinion. She was very thorough, obviously smart and knew her stuff but also took my biopsy to the tumor board for their input. I very much appreciate the thoroughness and her explanations of the nuances of my biopsy. She didn't just give my a one-size-fits-all answer of you need to start chemo' with minimal explanation, which was the unfortunate experience I had with my first oncologist. I am very grateful to Dr. Cham, and if it turns out that I DO need chemo, I will feel much more comfortable with her than my previous doctor.
