Dr. William C. Chen is a radiation oncologist who cares for patients with digestive system cancers, including liver cancer. He is also interested in caring for patients with meningioma (a brain tumor that starts in the meninges, the brain's surrounding membranes and metastatic disease (cancer that has spread from its original site). He has experience in treating a wide range of tumors using modern techniques, including stereotactic body radiotherapy, radiosurgery and intensity-modulated radiotherapy.

In his research, Chen has several interests, including informatics (using data to improve health care) and biomarkers (substances in body fluids or tissues that can be used to assess health or response to treatment). He is also involved in clinical trials (studies that evaluate promising treatments using human volunteers) that focus on meningiomas and other cancers.

Chen earned his medical degree and completed a residency in radiation oncology at UCSF.
