About me
Dr. William Grossman is a cardiologist and director of the Center for Prevention of Heart and Vascular Disease at Mission Bay. He specializes in treatments to prevent heart disease from developing or progressing. He cares for patients with high blood pressure, abnormal cholesterol levels, coronary artery disease (including those who have had a heart attack or the chest pain known as angina), valvular heart disease, atrial fibrillation, cardiomyopathy and heart failure.
Grossman has been a pioneer in research on diastolic function of the left ventricle. He is editor of the textbook Cardiac Catheterization, Angiography, and Intervention, which remains a standard in the field. He is the Charles and Helen Schwab Endowed Chair in Preventive Cardiology at UCSF and a former chief of cardiology at UCSF Medical Center.
