About me
Dr. Xiaobing Yu is a pain medicine physician and anesthesiologist who collaborates with a health care team to improve quality of life and manage pain for patients with a wide array of chronic pain conditions. He provides innovative interventional procedures guided by ultrasound or fluoroscopy (an imaging technique using continuous X-rays) to treat many chronic and persistent pain conditions. These include mouth or face pain (such as trigeminal neuralgia), failed back surgery syndrome, facetogenic pain (involving the facet joints of the spine's vertebrae), neuropathic pain, complex regional pain syndrome and pain associated with cancer.
Yu's research explores new treatments for neuropathic pain, with the goal of improving the standard of care for this chronic condition.
After earning his medical degree at Peking Union Medical College, Yu completed a residency in anesthesiology at Brigham and Women's Hospital, an affiliate of Harvard Medical School. He completed a fellowship in pain medicine at UCSF before joining the faculty.
Yu belongs to the American Society of Anesthesiologists, California Society of Anesthesiologists, American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, and International Association for the Study of Pain.
Yu has a strong commitment to medical education. He directs the chronic pain rotation for UCSF residents as well as a specialty training course in pain management.

Yes, all my encounter during the appointment from the receptionist to the Doctors to the Nurse were very pleasant, professional, and yes friendly. This courtesy treatment was unexpected in such a prestigious facility and hospital. Truthfully? Loved it.
