About me
Dr. Yi Li is a pediatric urologic surgeon who provides comprehensive, compassionate care for children with a wide range of problems involving the genital and urinary organs, including bladder, kidney or penile abnormalities and other disorders that may be present at birth. He specializes in using minimally invasive procedures, including endoscopy and robotic surgery, to treat pediatric kidney stones and testicular developmental disorders. To personalize and optimize care, he strives to collaborate with his patients and their parents and to offer education that empowers them.
In research, Li studies pediatric urinary stone disease, looking at which populations are most affected and the associated health care costs. He also runs a lab investigating testicular development, specifically focusing on how temperature affects testicle development among children with undescended testicles.
Li earned his medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine. He completed a residency in urology and a fellowship in pediatric urology at UCSF.
Prior to his medical training, Li was a high school teacher and wrestling coach. Education continues to be a vital part of his work, both in teaching patients and families as well as the next generation of doctors and scientists.
