Dr. Ying Han is an ophthalmologist who specializes in treating glaucoma, including medical, laser and surgical therapies. She has expertise in evaluating and treating cataracts as well.

In her research, Han evaluates new drug delivery and new surgical procedures for glaucoma. She's also interested in screening and treatment of glaucoma to prevent vision loss.

Han earned her medical degree at Nanjing Medical University and a doctoral degree in vision science at the University of California, Berkeley. She completed a residency in ophthalmology and a fellowship in glaucoma at UCSF.

Han is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, American Glaucoma Society, Women in Ophthalmology and Prevent Blindness Northern California.

    Dr. Haun was a jewel. This was my first time seeing her. Dr. Haun and her staff were very gentle and made me aware of everything that was going on.

    Dr. Han is very efficient with her time while still stopping to answer any questions/concerns as well as gives great detail/info about the care during the visit and about follow-up visits and for meds. She is very careful to o insure that a procedure is necessary and doubly verified that all processes were explained and paperwork was gone over and signed off applicable. She is a wonderful doctor and makes sure that patients are ok, even if things are taking longer than planned....I've seen her check in on other waiting patients just to update them, which isn't always done by other doctors. I can't speak highly enough about the level of care that she gives to everyone, including the family that is with her patients.

    The initial Dr., the Fellow, was attentive and listened well. Was thorough in exam and explained well about his diagnosis. Explained treatment plan well and follow up necessary.

    Dr. Sun referred Dr. Han to me for a second opinion. There wasn't much discussion; she provided her opinion that my pressures were acceptable. No need for surgery at this time.

    The physicians were knowledgeable as expected but the ultrasound technician / clinic manager was outstanding: made an accommodation to get me in. Explanation and performance of UBM study went smoothly. Excellent.

    Dr. Han is wonderful. She truly cares about her patients. I imagine her shifts are very long and she is always pleasant and engaged when I see her. We had a very good visit and conversation, and I really appreciated her recommendations for my care and treatment going forward. This is a really scary eye condition that I have, and Dr. Han helps me navigate it w/confidence, courage, optimism and grace.

    The visit 3ended with a medical decision which was discussed with another physician behind closed doors. I thought that such decisions should be open-ended and patient should be in on at least part of that. It would have been helpful to hear the second point of view also and the reasoning behind it that may have taken place. Overall I was pleased with the ultimate decision and it was explained to me with thoroughness.
