    About our process

I may be a bit weird, but I would've preferred it if the doctor explained how exactly the injection was going to work. I expected 1 poke like a flu shot. She had to poke all along my scar like I was getting a tattoo. I get really nervous with needles, and what helps me is knowing exactly what's going on. I usually watch it go in, but obviously that's not possible with a shot in my neck. Both the pain of the needle going in and out of my neck over and over again, and the anxiety of not knowing what's happening or how long it was going to last almost made me faint. The doctor kindly and patiently walked me through breathing exercises to calm me down and because of that, I was able to walk out and go home without issue.

I liked that, early on in the conversation, she asked me what I hoped to get out of this. That helped set expectations.

Dr. Ma was very professional, had reviewed my medical records in advance, and asked pertinent questions. She was also very friendly and helpful. Frankly, I hadn't expected much from this referral. Having met with numerous doctors and therapists in the past several years following my traumatic brain injury, I wasn't expecting much. But this doctor appeared genuinely interested in me and the science behind my recurring issues, and I was very impressed with her.

Dr. Ma made all the information very clear, answered many questions pertaining to the conversation prior to even being asked and was very through in explaining any aspect for pre and post operation situations. The meeting felt like a team effort in making decisions moving forward and personally, this is the best approach to these situations.
