Dr. Sriranjani Padmanabhan, called Dr. Sri by her patients, is an ophthalmologist and glaucoma specialist who provides comprehensive medical and surgical care for adults and children. She has a strong interest in working with underserved populations.

Padmanabhan earned her medical degree at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. She completed a residency in ophthalmology at the Scheie Eye Institute (Penn Medicine's ophthalmology department). She completed a fellowship in glaucoma at Emory Eye Center and a fellowship in international ophthalmology and global blindness prevention at the University of Nebraska Medical Center's Stanley M. Truhlsen Eye Institute.

Padmanabhan is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and an active member of the American Glaucoma Society. She is a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.

In her free time, Padmanabhan feeds her insatiable wanderlust and enjoys writing narrative nonfiction, fiction and poetry.

    The resident sits typing most of the time instead of interacting with the patient. Needs to figure out a way to do both or interact with patient and write it up after. Also figure out how to communicate with the doctor and brief her openly without doing it sotto voce in front of the patient as if there's something to hide

    I've had more than a few ophthalmologists over the years and Dr. Sri Is by far the best. She has skill and knowledge that she expertly applies but always shows me respect care and compassion while treating my eye disease. She Is my favorite medical provider.

    I was hoping to get the things we discussed (name of eye vitamins eye drop regimen) in the Visit Summary but no summary came so I had to send a message with my questions to the doctor in MyChart.

    I was very satisfied with concern showed and care. A bit more details about the medications (including eye drops) and contact lens would have left me with fewer questions later but this is not a criticism . . .

    I feel fortunate to be one of Dr. Padmanabhan's patients. The "good" ratings refer to her not always giving more full explanations information but this has never resulted in any problems for me . . .

    Dr.Padmanabhan is excellent communicator and physician who is thorough inclusive and clear insuring that I as patient understand my condition and implications for any decision-making. She is a joy to interact with on my glaucoma condition a very good listener and I always come away hopeful and glad I have her as my doctor!

    The service of the doctor has been and again yesterday was excellent. It is just very inconvenient and very expensive to have to wait so long to be seen.

    The care provider is skilled friendly and in all ways the perfect physician. The scheduling however is brutal and is disrespectful to the patient. We should not have to wait so long and it happens every time.

    The medical staff at UCSF are consistently great and now as my relationship with this doctor has persisted I'm coming to a deeper appreciation of this doctor's performance including clinical judgment and bedside manner. My outcomes are good my concerns are recognized and addressed thoroughly and the doctor proactively explains salient details to help me understand the diagnosis prognosis and treatment plan.

    Dr Padmanabhan has very limited availability and my appt was repeatedly rescheduled. They finally dilated my eyes but since I was told all of 5 minutes before I saw the doctor that my visit would be remote because she was sick I actually had to ask the techs to get another doctor to examine the back of my eyes for diabetic retinopathy. I would not recommend this practice to others.
