Cystic fibrosis care at UCSF Health
Our team offers comprehensive, effective care for adults with cystic fibrosis (CF). We are accredited as a CF care center by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

We provide:
Comprehensive diagnostic testing. We offer sweat testing and blood testing for all known mutations related to cystic fibrosis. By special arrangement, we can also provide measurement of nasal potential differences.
Treatment of complications. We address complications involving the respiratory, digestive, endocrine and reproductive systems.
Management of lung disease. Therapies include airway clearance techniques, mucolytics and preventive therapy for pseudomonas infections.
Prenatal genetic counseling, screening and testing. This testing is performed through UCSF Health's prenatal diagnostic program.
Nutrition counseling and care. Our dietitian provides pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy, screening for vitamin deficiencies and treatments to address deficiencies.
CF education and counseling. Our team offers education and resources to support people with CF and their families. We help you understand the condition, treatment options and how to navigate daily care with confidence.
Transitioning from pediatric to adult CF care
Advances in treatment have significantly improved life expectancy for children and teenagers with CF. Our specialists help adolescents transition from pediatric care to adult care, providing them with support, specialized services and resources.
