Why choose UCSF Health for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy care?

Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) causes thickening of the heart muscle, leading to reduced blood flow. This genetic condition affects about 1 in 500 people worldwide and is challenging to diagnose. HCM often causes no symptoms or very mild symptoms, but can lead to life-threatening arrhythmias and complications.

Our HCM program is one of the largest on the West Coast, and we care for patients at every stage of this genetic disease. In one convenient setting, you receive leading-edge evaluation, state-of-the-art imaging, other modern testing options and innovative therapies.

We've participated in landmark research, helping advance HCM care. Our patients can receive early access to new therapies through our clinical trials. We have been named a national center of excellence by the Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Association.
