Cathy Hoang, DPT, PT

Physical therapist

Cathy Hoang is a physical therapist who uses manual therapy and movement re-education to help patients move optimally and improve function. She cares for patients of all ages, including young athletes.

Hoang treats the body as a whole system, believing that all parts are interconnected. For example, a foot injury can affect how a person's arms and upper body move.

After earning her doctor of physical therapy degree from Mount Saint Mary's University, Hoang completed a residency in orthopedics as well as fellowships in manual therapy and movement science at Kaiser Permanente Southern California. Hoang also has studied an approach to rehabilitation called Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization, developed by the Prague School of Rehabilitation and Manual Medicine. This neurodevelopmental method focuses on attaining proper motor control to restore function.

Hoang is a volunteer clinical faculty member in the Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science at UCSF.
