Laser Vision Center

The UCSF Laser Vision Center offers state-of-the-art vision correction surgery using the latest techniques and instruments. These include customizable wavefront-guided LASIK, which provides more precision than traditional LASIK, as well as all-laser LASIK, a technology that eliminates the need for a surgical blade. We also perform a different type of laser surgery, called photorefractive keratectomy (PRK), using the newest techniques, including laser epithelial keratomileusis (LASEK) and epi-LASIK (Epi-K).

Our center's LASIK surgeons are board-certified, fellowship-trained ophthalmologists. Nationally recognized leaders in the field, UCSF surgeons were among the first in the U.S. to perform PRK and LASIK surgery in clinical trials sponsored by the Food and Drug Administration. Since then, we have safely and successfully treated thousands of patients, enabling them to reduce or eliminate their need for glasses or contact lenses.

Our threefold mission is to provide the best possible surgical care, to advance the field of refractive surgery through research, and to educate our patients about surgical and nonsurgical vision correction options. We offer free evening seminars, educational materials and personalized consultations on vision correction surgery.

Seminars

If you are interested in learning more about vision correction surgery and the most advanced laser surgery techniques, you can attend our free informational seminar and meet our refractive surgery specialists. Seminars are held on specified evenings from 6–7 p.m. in the UCSF Koret Research Building at 10 Koret Way, next to the UCSF Laser Vision Center.

For more information on upcoming seminars or to reserve a seat, please call (415) 353-2020.

If you are unable to attend an informational seminar, we offer individual consultations that include a comprehensive eye exam, corneal mapping and an in-depth personalized consultation with one of our surgeons.
