About me
Dr. Daniel Calabrese is a pulmonologist and critical care specialist who cares for patients with advanced lung diseases before and after lung transplantation. He evaluates the lung function of patients with severe lung disease and specializes in caring for those with sarcoidosis, interstitial lung disease (ILD), cystic fibrosis, connective tissue disease–associated ILD, hypersensitivity pneumonitis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. He also cares for patients in the intensive care unit, as well as those who need pulmonary consultations and outpatient care at the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Health Care System.
Calabrese's research focuses on understanding what causes various complications following a lung transplant in order to improve outcomes for patients who undergo transplantation.
Calabrese earned his medical degree at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. He completed a residency in internal medicine at the University of Washington, followed by a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at UCSF. He completed additional training in lung transplantation.

Never have had better care. UCSF is the best. He went over everything and made sure that I understood what is going on. Addressed every concern that I had. Very happy.
