Applied clinical informatics
Adrian Tomes is a family physician who provides primary care for children and adults with a wide variety of conditions. He is experienced in addressing urgent medical needs as well as managing chronic diseases. His special interests include preventive care, depression and anxiety, diabetes-related care and chronic disease management.
Tomes takes pride in centering his care around the physical, mental and social needs of each patient. He seeks to form long-term relationships built on shared decision making and mutual respect. Having previously worked with underserved communities, he is dedicated to advocating for health equity and serving patients of all backgrounds. In research, Tomes has a strong interest in using technology to improve patient care.
Tomes earned his medical degree at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. He completed a residency in family and community medicine at Hennepin Healthcare, serving as chief resident. Most recently, he completed a fellowship in clinical informatics at UCSF. He is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians.
Tomes was born in Schwetzingen, Germany, and moved to the Twin Cities in his youth. In his free time, he enjoys playing basketball, cooking and spending time outdoors.
