Dr. Amy Erica Lin is a cardiologist who cares for patients with cancer by addressing the cardiovascular side effects of cancer treatments. Her special interests include breast cancer survivorship and clonal hematopoiesis of indeterminate potential, or CHIP (mutations in stem cells of the blood).

Lin's research focuses on cardio-oncology (preventing and managing heart problems that can result from cancer therapies), looking particularly at inflammation in cardiovascular disease and how CHIP can increase a patient's risks for heart disease, heart failure and arrhythmias.

Lin earned her medical degree and a doctorate in medical biophysics at the University of Toronto, where she also completed a residency in internal medicine. She completed a fellowship in cardiovascular medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital, an affiliate of Harvard Medical School, and a postdoctoral fellowship in cardiology and hematology-oncology at Mass General Brigham and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

    Previous care from another provider was delayed and they seemed yo dismiss my concerns. I am grateful that I was connected to UCSF and this provider in particular. I was listened to and my concerns were taken seriously. Coupled with the way provider studied my case before I arrived made me feel that I would be taken care of and allowed me to just be the patient. Advocating and hyper alertness while sick are exhausting and deplete your energy needed for healing. This visit wasn't like the ones of the past.

    Changed my medication. There was discrepancy in frequency of taking new med within my medical note when I went to verify after receiving new med from pharmacy with decreased frequency than discussed at appointment.

    She is my first cardiologist. I'd heard that cardiologists were dismissive, egocentric, and generally bad listeners. She was none of those. I actually wish more of my doctors were as attuned to my needs as Dr Lin is. She could teach a master class on how to communicate a complex, hard-to-diagnose condition to patients.
