About me
Andrew Lui is a physical therapist (PT) who cares for patients with ALS or who have other movement issues. In addition to caring for patients, he participates in trials of drugs for ALS, serving as a clinical evaluator in research involving patients.
As a physical therapist, Lui performs an initial evaluation that includes a subjective exam – assessing complaints of weakness, stiffness, pain and fatigue, and any history of falls – as well as a physical exam, with gait analyses, balance tests, and measurements of strength and muscle tone. He also provides patients' neurologists with recommendations on which PT equipment and services will best serve an individual.
Lui earned his master's degree in physical therapy and his doctor of physical therapy degree at UCSF. He joined the physical therapy team at the UCSF ALS Center in 2000.
