About me

Dr. Angela Suen is a pulmonologist and critical care doctor who specializes in caring for patients with chronic lung diseases in advanced stages. Her expertise includes idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (when scar tissue forms inside the lungs without a known cause), interstitial lung disease (lung disorders that damage the tissues between air sacs) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). She is passionate about supporting patients and their families as they cope with these challenging conditions.

In her research, Suen focuses on improving treatment strategies, including palliative care, for older adults with pulmonary disease.

Suen earned her medical degree at UCSF. She completed an internal medicine residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center before returning to UCSF to complete a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine. She is a member of the American Thoracic Society, American Geriatrics Society, and American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
