Bao-Quynh Julian, MD

Dr. Bao-Quynh Julian is a plastic surgeon who cares for patients having cosmetic and complex reconstructive surgeries. She specializes in microvascular breast reconstruction (using tissue from another part of the body to rebuild the breast after mastectomy), as well as major reconstructions involving the head and neck, extremities or trunk.

Julian's research interests center on improving treatment outcomes; surgical techniques; and health literacy, which involves patients' ability to find, understand and use medical information. She has published numerous peer-reviewed papers and contributed to textbooks on specialized surgical techniques.

Julian earned her medical degree at Wake Forest University School of Medicine. She completed a residency in general surgery at Huntington Health and a residency in plastic surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. She completed a fellowship in microsurgery at Johns Hopkins Medicine.

In addition to practicing medicine, Julian is a professional artist.
