Dr. Jo Anne Gras, who goes by Jo, is an obstetrician and gynecologist who specializes in caring for patients who have been hospitalized for a variety of women's health conditions, including high-risk pregnancies and conditions such as placenta accreta spectrum (PAS), in which the placenta grows so deeply into the uterine wall that it can't detach during childbirth. PAS is considered a life-threatening condition and requires a multidisciplinary approach to provide a safe outcome for both mother and baby. Gras directs UCSF's Multidisciplinary Approach to the Placenta Service, an effort to collaboratively diagnose and care for women with PAS. She also cares for women who are experiencing gynecologic emergencies.

Gras earned a doctor of osteopathic medicine degree at Midwestern University Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at UCSF. She is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
