Dr. Maggie Chen is a family medicine doctor who specializes in providing primary care for women. She takes a comprehensive approach, aiming to integrate care for physical, mental and sociocultural aspects of wellness. She partners with her patients in working toward their health goals. Her interests include family planning and contraception, adolescent medicine, integrative medicine and health policy.

Chen earned her medical degree and a master of public policy degree from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. She completed a residency in family and community medicine at UCSF.

    Dr. Chen was extremely helpful. She is kind and personable and took the time to listen to my symptoms and to the course of treatment I would like to take. Ultimately she did refer me to receive a stress test.

    Dr. Chen made a very uncomfortable appointment comfortable and eased my anxiety. She's very personable and patient and willing to listen. She also is very thorough having remembered/reviewed our conversations from prior to my actual appointment. She is an excellent addition to UCSF, and I hope I can see her again in the future. While I love my PCP, it's very difficult to schedule appointments with her, so I would love it if I could use Dr. Chen as my backup or perhaps eventually switch over if it came down to it.

    I feel so heard and so well cared for with Dr.Chen. She's so thorough and so informative. I'mInvolved in all action plans concerning my health. She's truly a gem.

    The provider was great, as well as the medical student who was shadowing her. Both of them cared and listened to my issues and provided reassurance about my anxiety surrounding a past injury.

    My visit with Dr. Chen was perhaps the most positive interaction I've ever had with a health care provider. She made me feel very comfortable and empowered in my experience. I was extremely nervous about the procedure, but after talking with her I decided on a plan that I felt very comfortable with, and because I was so calm and comfortable, and because of Dr. Chem's skill level, the procedure went seamlessly without any pain at all.

    We discussed more than one issue. The provider went through all the issues then asked if I had questions. It would have been better to discuss an issue then ask if I had questions. The provider also talked extremely fast.

    Dr Maggie Chen has been my doc for about 2 years now & I don't have enough words to thank her. The thought of going to a doctor used to make me nervous, with my heart rate shooting to even 120! Not only did Dr Chen handle my medical anxiety, helped me overcome my fear of the BP machine, she puts me at ease with her kindness, understanding & compassion. Dr Chen has changed my life in ways she doesn't even know. I'm forever grateful :)

    She used the time well given that there was much history and assessment to cover in a short time. Her referral and plan seemed logical as a starting point for treatment.

    Dr. Chen is amazing! I was in need of a primary care doctor at UCSF (I was previously at One Medical) and I was referred to her by a senior leader at UCSF and couldn't be happier.

    Dr Chen is very open and understanding when it comes to any questions and concerns I have. She is very patient and knowledgeable and always has a solution and a plan . 100 percent recommend her .

    Dr. Maggie Chen was outstanding. She showed me care and compassion, involved me in my treatment plan and listened to me as a person. She never was rushed even though I know she was busy, and she made me feel seen. I feel really lucky to have her as my PCP.

    I was surprised by her willingness to accommodate my concerns. I found often though that decisions/concerns/ comments are not usually well communicated among providers and I have to start from zero every time
