Dr. Maggie Chen is a family medicine doctor who specializes in providing primary care for women. She takes a comprehensive approach, aiming to integrate care for physical, mental and sociocultural aspects of wellness. She partners with her patients in working toward their health goals. Her interests include family planning and contraception, adolescent medicine, integrative medicine and health policy.

Chen earned her medical degree and a master of public policy degree from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. She completed a residency in family and community medicine at UCSF.

    The provider was great as well as the medical student who was shadowing her. Both of them cared and listened to my issues and provided reassurance about my anxiety surrounding a past injury.

    My visit with Dr. Chen was perhaps the most positive interaction I've ever had with a health care provider. She made me feel very comfortable and empowered in my experience. I was extremely nervous about the procedure but after talking with her I decided on a plan that I felt very comfortable with and because I was so calm and comfortable and because of Dr. Chen's skill level the procedure went seamlessly without any pain at all.

    We discussed more than one issue. The provider went through all the issues then asked if I had questions. It would have been better to discuss an issue then ask if I had questions. The provider also talked extremely fast.

    She used the time well given that there was much history and assessment to cover in a short time. Her referral and plan seemed logical as a starting point for treatment.

    Dr Maggie Chen has been my doc for about 2 years now & I don't have enough words to thank her. The thought of going to a doctor used to make me nervous with my heart rate shooting to even 120! Not only did Dr Chen handle my medical anxiety helped me overcome my fear of the BP machine she puts me at ease with her kindness understanding & compassion. Dr Chen has changed my life in ways she doesn't even know. I'm forever grateful :)

    Dr. Chen is amazing! I was in need of a primary care doctor at UCSF (I was previously at One Medical) and I was referred to her by a senior leader at UCSF and couldn't be happier.

    Dr Chen is very open and understanding when it comes to any questions and concerns I have. She is very patient and knowledgeable and always has a solution and a plan . 100 percent recommend her .

    Dr. Maggie Chen was outstanding. She showed me care and compassion involved me in my treatment plan and listened to me as a person. She never was rushed even though I know she was busy and she made me feel seen. I feel really lucky to have her as my PCP.

    I was surprised by her willingness to accommodate my concerns. I found often though that decisions/concerns/ comments are not usually well communicated among providers and I have to start from zero every time

    I've had an all-around wonderful experience since beginning my healthcare journey with UCSF and meeting Dr. Chen. I have always felt since day 1 that Dr. Chen has created a safe space for me to be comfortable and in control of my healthcare decisions. I have never felt truly connected to or heard by a primary care physician prior to meeting Dr. Chen so I am very grateful now for the connection.
