About me

Dr. Nancy Greenland is a pathologist, a specialist in examining samples of body tissues and fluids to help diagnose and monitor diseases. Her focus is particularly on disorders of the urinary system. She performs fine-needle aspiration biopsies (using a thin needle to remove a tissue sample for analysis) and specializes in exfoliative cytology (examining cells shed from body surfaces).

Greenland's research focuses primarily on urine cytology (studying abnormal cells in the urine) and prostate cancer.

Greenland earned her medical degree at Stanford University School of Medicine. At UCSF, she completed a residency in anatomic and clinical pathology, a fellowship in cytopathology and a fellowship in surgical pathology. She also has a doctorate in chemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
