About me

Dr. Jahan Fahimi is an emergency medicine specialist who serves as the emergency department's executive medical director. As physician lead of the readiness and transition team for the new state-of-the-art hospital at Parnassus Heights, he is working to ensure a seamless transition for both patients and providers, with a focus on optimizing care and workflows. He is committed to advancing emergency care through treatment excellence, operational leadership and system-wide upgrades. His professional interests include health systems innovation, process improvement, and the intersection of emergency medicine and hospital operations.

Fahimi's research and advocacy endeavors center on firearm violence in the United States. He seeks to better understand the epidemiology of gun violence, prevent injury through a public health approach, and educate other doctors on addressing this epidemic during their everyday practice. He is an affiliated faculty member of the UCSF Philip R. Lee Institute for Health Policy Studies.

Fahimi earned his medical degree at the New York University School of Medicine. He completed a residency in emergency medicine and a research fellowship at Highland Hospital, part of the Alameda Health System. He also has a master of public health degree from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
