About me

Dr. Karen K. Smith-McCune, an obstetrician and gynecologist, is director of the UCSF Gynecologic Dysplasia Clinic. She has special interests in cervical cancer screening, abnormal Pap smears, precancerous cervical conditions, human papillomavirus virus (HPV) and vulvar disease.

One of Smith-McCune's research goals is to identify drugs that merit testing as treatments for cervical dysplasia or cancer. She is also interested in improving tests used by doctors for suspicious cervical tissue samples, so they can quickly and accurately distinguish low-grade from high-grade abnormalities.
