About me
Katerina Melino, who goes by Kate, is a mental health nurse practitioner who cares for men living with HIV. She has special interests in the integration of primary and behavioral health care, concurrent treatment of mental health and substance use disorders, geriatric psychiatry and LGBTQ mental health. She also has special training to provide medication-assisted treatment for opioid use disorder.
Areas of Melino's research include mental health, substance use, trauma-informed care and graduate nursing education.
Melino earned her bachelor's degree in nursing from the University of Toronto. She earned her master's degree in nursing, specializing in psychiatric mental health, at UCSF. She has experience working in many parts of the U.S. and other countries as a psychiatric provider of all types of mental health services, and has served in both clinical and administrative leadership roles.
Melino is a member of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association and National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties.
