About me
Lastascia Coleman is a certified nurse-midwife who provides reproductive care for adult patients. Her work includes providing gynecologic care and contraceptive management, as well as care during pregnancy, labor, birth and postpartum.
In her research, Coleman is driven by a commitment to reproductive justice and focuses on health policy, health care delivery, health care financing, perinatal (during pregnancy and up to a year after birth) quality improvement and perinatal workforce shortages. Her dissertation research examined the impact of Medicaid-related payment reforms and the impact on perinatal care delivery.
Coleman earned her master's degree in nursing from the University of Illinois Chicago College of Nursing. She also completed a doctorate in health management and policy from the University of Iowa.
Coleman is a fellow and a member of the American College of Nurse Midwives. She is also an alumnus of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Health Policy Research Scholars program. She is a member of the National Association of Health Services Executives, the Interdisciplinary Association for Population Health Science, the American College of Nurse-Midwives and the National Black Nurses Association.
