About me

She | Her | Hers

Lauren Y. Jacobs is an audiologist who cares for patients with hearing loss. Her role includes performing comprehensive hearing assessments, diagnosing vestibular conditions (disturbances in the body's balance system due to problems with the inner ear), fitting hearing aids and other amplification devices, and providing custom hearing protection for musicians and other people exposed to loud conditions. She enjoys helping patients understand their conditions and guiding them to their best possible outcomes.

In research, Jacobs has studied how music impacts memory and how music is perceived by cochlear implant users. She has also looked at how remote research tools can improve access to medical studies for populations traditionally unable to participate in person.

Jacobs earned a bachelor's degree in clinical psychology and music at Tufts University. She earned her doctor of audiology degree at Washington University in St. Louis.

An East Bay native, Jacobs grew up in El Cerrito and spent her childhood going to games and performances at the University of California, Berkeley. She enthusiastically supports the Cal Bears.
