  • Audiologic rehabilitation. Our LACE (Listening and Communication Enhancement) program helps improve listening, communication and comprehension skills.

  • Facial nerve function monitoring. We use the latest technology to prevent damage to the nerves in your face during ear surgery.

Vestibular evaluation

Vestibular disorders, such as benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) and vestibular neuritis, can lead to dizziness and vertigo and raise your risk of falls.

Experts at the UCSF Balance and Falls Center offer comprehensive assessments to identify all types of vestibular disorders. We use the latest diagnostic technology, including:

  • Rotary chair testing

  • Video head impulse testing (vHIT)

  • Electronystagmography (ENG/VNG)

  • Vestibular evoked myogenic potentials (VEMPs)

Using your diagnostic results, a skilled team of audiologists, otolaryngologists, neurologists and physical therapists design a personalized treatment plan to fit your needs.

Benefits of diagnosing and treating vestibular disorders include:

  • Better balance

  • Improved gaze stability

  • Lower risk of falls

  • Reduced dizziness
