About me

Leah McIntyre is a physical therapist who works with patients to optimize their movement and improve their physical function through education, exercise programs and hands-on techniques. She specializes in pelvic health and rehabilitation to build strength and stability in the pelvic region and to address bowel, bladder and sexual dysfunction. She strives to provide all of her patients with respectful, informed and affirming physical therapy and particularly seeks to create safe spaces for LGBTQ+ individuals to receive health care.

In research, McIntyre collaborates with other providers to investigate how wearable devices and telerehabilitation can be used to address overactive bladder symptoms. She is an assistant clinical professor in health sciences and serves as program director in UCSF's women's health physical therapy residency.

McIntyre earned her doctor of physical therapy degree from the Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and Academy of Pelvic Health Physical Therapy.

In her free time, McIntyre enjoys hiking, skiing and running with her energetic rescue pups.
