About me

Dr. Madina Tugizova is a neurologist who cares for patients with nerve and muscle diseases; disorders of the neuromuscular junction (the connection point between a motor nerve and a muscle fiber), such as myasthenia gravis; and disorders of the brachial or lumbosacral plexus (nerve network controlling the upper and lower limbs, respectively). She has particular interests in inherited neuromuscular diseases and neuromuscular diseases linked to dysfunction of the immune system. Along with other tests, she uses electromyography, which measures the electrical activity when a nerve stimulates a muscle, to help diagnose nerve and muscle disorders.

Tugizova works on UCSF's clinical trials (studies of promising new treatments) for neuromuscular diseases.

Tugizova earned her medical degree from Stanford University, where she also completed a residency in neurology. She completed a fellowship in neuromuscular medicine at UCSF.

Tugizova is passionate about medical education. She enjoys teaching and mentoring medical students, neurology residents and neuromuscular medicine fellows.

Usually a physician will ask if you have any questions. This did not happen. Exam was very thorough.
