About me
Dr. Mary Nakamura is a rheumatologist who specializes in caring for patients with rheumatoid arthritis.
In research, Nakamura is interested in cells of the innate immune system (the immune system with which people are born, as opposed to adaptive immunity, which develops in response to a real or perceived health threat). Her research also focuses on osteoimmunology (a field that explores how the immune system and skeletal system interact).
Nakamura earned her medical degree from Yale School of Medicine. She completed a residency in internal medicine at UCSF, followed by a fellowship in rheumatology at the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Health Care System.

There should be a level or two above "Very Good" for Dr. Nakamura. They'd still be short of the perfection, compassion and care of Dr. Mary Nakamura. I feel extraordinarily fortunate to have had the opportunity to work WITH her. She's a high bar, unparalleled. I hope my other Physicians are half the caliber of Mary - I'd still be fortunate. I will miss her madly and know she will shine - she's incapable of not shining!

There is no one as thoughtful and genuinely invested in the improvement of my overall health and specific condition as Dr Nakamura has been. I can only guess that questioning her methods is a way to improve the practice of other doctors. She is the real deal, couldn't be better in my opinion. I've been extremely lucky to be the beneficiary of her care.

I've never had a doctor who cared about me and my well-being the way Dr Nakamura has.She is unique in my experience, for her expertise and willingness to answer all questions, as well as for her remarkable level of concern for her patients. She guided me through difficult and painful episodes with my RA, gaining my total trust and admiration. She is a gem.
