About me
Dr. Melissa Rosenstein is maternal-fetal medicine specialist, an obstetrician and gynecologist who specializes in complicated and high-risk pregnancies. Her expertise includes care of women with diabetes, high blood pressure and other medical conditions, as well as managing complications such as twins, history of preterm birth or fetal abnormalities.
In patient care and research, Rosenstein's interests include quality improvement in obstetrics, reducing unnecessary cesareans, and improving outcomes for women who experience obstetric hemorrhage or high blood pressure disorders during pregnancy. Her professional goals include expanding patient access to comprehensive reproductive care and particularly to vaginal birth after a past cesarean.
Rosenstein completed her bachelor's degree in biology at Columbia University and earned her medical degree at the University of Pennsylvania's Perelman School of Medicine. At UCSF, she completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology, and a fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine. Through the UCSF Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, she has also completed a master of advanced study degree in clinical research, specializing in implementation science, the study of how to support the adoption of proven treatments and policies into routine medical practice.
