Dr. Mia Williams is an internal medicine specialist who provides primary care. She is particularly interested in chronic disease management, quality-of-life issues, preventive care, patient-centered medicine and issues specific to Latino health.
Williams' research focuses on developing education initiatives to improve patient-centered communication when there are language differences as well as to improve care for diverse populations.
Williams earned her medical degree from Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, where she also earned a master's degree in clinical research. She completed a residency in internal medicine at UCSF.
Williams is involved in medical education at UCSF. Her teaching efforts include serving as a preceptor for students in the UCSF internal medicine clinic (preceptorship is a training method similar to apprenticeship in which students gain experience under close supervision).
Williams is a member of the Society of General Internal Medicine.
