Internal medicine services

At your appointment, you meet with a member of our compassionate care team, which may include a:

  • Doctor

  • Resident or fellow (doctor pursuing training in internal medicine)

  • Nurse practitioner

  • Nurse

  • Psychologist

  • Dietitian

We provide a full range of primary care services for adults:

  • Preventive care. We help you stay healthy by providing immunizations, screenings and annual wellness exams.

  • Sick visits. When you're unwell, our providers see you as soon as possible. We diagnose the condition and provide effective treatment to help you feel better.

  • Chronic disease management. Our team provides monitoring and education to help you manage chronic diseases, such as high blood pressure and diabetes.

  • Weight management. We design a plan to help you reach your weight-loss goals with lifestyle changes and medication. You may meet with a dietitian to help you design an eating plan that works for you.

  • Behavioral health services. Our psychologists and other behavioral health specialists offer services to support your mental health.

  • Specialist referrals. Sometimes, you may need the care of a specialist, such as a cardiologist (heart expert) or pulmonologist (lung expert). We refer you to a trusted UCSF Health provider for specialty care.
