About me
Dr. Nida F. Degesys is an emergency care doctor who specializes in the needs of older cognitively impaired adults when seen in the emergency department.
In research, Degesys' main focus is geriatric emergency medicine. Her research on the reuse and extended use of N95 masks has been published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA).
Degesys earned her medical degree from Northeast Ohio Medical University. She completed a residency in emergency medicine at UCSF and a fellowship in emergency medicine administration at Stanford University School of Medicine.
Degesys serves in several leadership roles at UCSF, including medical director of the Age-Friendly Emergency Department, assistant medical director of the emergency department at the Parnassus campus, and administrative fellowship director for emergency medicine. In 2023, she received an award for early career achievement from the Academy of Geriatric Emergency Medicine and the National Emergency Medicine Junior Faculty Teaching Award from the American College of Emergency Physicians.
Prior to starting her career in medicine, Degesys served in the Peace Corps in Panama.
