About me

Samantha Chan is an optometrist who provides comprehensive eye care for people of all ages. She is experienced in treating complicated eye disorders and has expertise in dry eye, cataracts, diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration. She also monitors patients before and after eye surgery, including procedures for corneal or retinal diseases, cataracts and glaucoma. She works closely with UCSF corneal specialists to streamline care for patients who require frequent visits and involved treatment plans. Her approach is to listen carefully to her patients' needs, create lasting connections with them, provide education, and treat not just the condition but the whole person.

Chan earned her doctor of optometry degree from the UC Berkeley Herbert Wertheim School of Optometry & Vision Science and completed a residency in ocular disease at UCSF.

In addition to caring for patients, Chan serves as philanthropy chair for the San Francisco Optometric Society. She also volunteers as vice president of communications for a nonprofit that provides free eye exams and glasses to underserved communities both locally and abroad.

In her free time, Chan enjoys traveling; exploring new brunch spots around the city; and staying active through sports, such as golf, volleyball and softball.
